TRENT (Damon Shannon)

A method actor at heart, Damon transformed in Trent on set and carried the role all the way through the film. Trained in Acting for Television and Film at Humber College, his dedication to the craft continued through numerous workshops, theatre and television roles. FUEL is the first lead role in a feature film for Damon, a force to look for in the future.

JULIE (Genevieve Trilling)

Originally from France, Geneviève trained in various artistic and athletic disciplines before pursuing an acting career in Toronto. A triple threat performer and graduate of the Randolph Academy, she is always ready to embark on a new adventure. She acts in both French and English and for many years has been a freelance translator for the company Little Red Theatre. Her film and TV credits also include: Solace and The Border.

LAURA (Ava Himmel)

A classically trained actress, Ava graduated from the Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts and also receiver a Drama Diploma from Keyano College. She has been a favorite for many re-enactment dramas including Live or Death, Zero Hour, and Cold Blood and has been the lead in a number of shorts including The Price of Acorn and the award winning Mommy Mommy There’s a Monster on the Stairs.

JONNY (Edwin MacIsaac)

Born and raised in Toronto , Edwin MacIsaac started acting at the age of ten in the local theatre scene. He continued the pursuit of his passion through high school and studied theatre at York University. His career moved into roles in the film and television world including the lead as JFK Jr. in Final 24: John F. Kennedy Jr.

WRITER / DIRECTOR / PRODUCER (Adam Bialo)

Adam Bialo founded Kontakt Filmproduction in 2002 while working on his first student film The Decline. Since graduating with honors from Sheridan, he has directed and produced short films, commercials and music videos through Kontakt. FUEL was his first feature film as a Director and he is currently working on finishing his second feature, a documentary about his father and the Solidarity movement in Poland entitled The Price of Freedom: A Solidarity Story.

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY (Brad Smith)

Brad Smith is an up-and-coming freelance cinematographer based in Toronto. After studying Psychology at the University of Western he went back to film school at Sheridan to pursue his dream of becoming a DOP. His body of work to date includes award winning shorts, commercials, music videos and feature films.

CASTING DIRECTOR (Crystal Olsen)

Crystal Olsen is a well known as a 'different' type of Casting Director with over ten years of experience in the Toronto and Canadian market. She is always thinking outside the box and meeting new and undiscovered talent. Her personal attention is always focused on finding exactly the right cast, and was a key to finding the independent ensemble of talent for FUEL.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (Rory Mule)

Rory Mule is a writer and filmmaker and recent graduate of the Ryerson Film Studies Program. He was not only the Assistant Director on FUEL but helped tweak the story and manage the production of the film since it’s inception.

THE POST TEAM

EDITORS (Adam Bialo, David Yenovkian)

Adam Bialo started editing in high school on the first non-linear system available to students. Ten years later his commercial work has been broadcast across North America. He is constantly learning new post techniques for color correction, special effects and animation.

 

David Yenovkian specialized in Post Production and Editing while attending film school at Sheridan. Since graduation, he has been working at Much Music as an editor on a few series such as MOD, Spotlight and currently The New Music.

COMPOSER (Alex De Lint)

Alex De Lint has been composing and producing his own music for the past ten years. He has played with various talented musicians and singers across the city. FUEL was the first collaboration on a film score for Alex and his orchestration gave a dramatic depth to the story.

COMPOSER/SOUND EDITOR (Kevin Mackenzie)

Kevin Mackenzie has traveled internationally as a DJ and has been producing electronic music for years. He is the founder of Handlebar Music, a Toronto based music and audio post production studio. In FUEL, his urban tracks range in speed and intensity and sometimes feature the vocals of Nicole Manes.

SOUND EDITOR (Sarah Fawcett)

Susan Fawcett has experienced many aspects of the sound department on different television and film projects since finishing the film program at Sheridan College. She has been working freelance, mostly at Sound Dogs Toronto and her credits include assisting on major features such as The Fountain and Fugitive Pieces.

Accompanying the great score to FUEL are some very talented Canadian artists and musicians that have grown with Kontakt over the years.

 

FOX JAWS

Fox Jaws has had the pleasure and privilege of being featured at Pop Montreal, Canadian Music Week, North by North-East, S.C.E.N.E. Festival, Over the Top Festival, and on the CBC Radio 3 Podcast, as well as sharing the stage with the likes of the Constantines, Wintersleep, Tokyo Police Club and Grizzly Bear. Together this quintet of long-time friends and listeners from Barrie have forged a sound that is part wall of noise, part experiment, part rock and roll, and a small part pop implosion.

THE RADICAL DUDEZ

Originally formed at Queen's University, Kingston, the band relocated and reformed in Toronto in the fall of 2007. Early Dudez' material was compared to Weezer and Sloan, but the sound of the Dudez has become more diverse reflecting a broader range of their influences such as the Beach Boys and Paul Simon. The Dudez have supported notable Canadian acts such as Cuff the Duke, Danko Jones, Andy Stochansky, Matt Mays, Bedouin Soundclash, and the Stills.

ABSENT MINDED

Arguably one of Ontario Canada’s most sought after, up and coming hip hop artists; Absent Minded has proven time and time again, that he is rightfully earning his spot within Canada’s Independent Music scene. Nominated for a 2007 Toronto Independent Music Awards, Absent Minded’s debut album, “Master Plan”, has garnered the attention of Hip Hop aficionado’s and industry types from around the globe. Absent Minded is currently working on his new album and has shared the stage with such artists as Method Man, Kardinal Offishall, Ill Scarlett, Lloyd Banks and Classified.

BORN TO BUSK

The brainchild of Jesse Landen, a professional skateboarder for companies like Billabong, Power and West 49. The guitarist and vocalist formed Born to Busk with his friend Adam Bell, on drums, and his older brother Andy Landen on bass and vocals. In the fall of 2007, the trio added guitarist Douglas Pilla. Based out of Toronto, the band recently completed recording a new EP.

THESE DARLING ANTENNAS

The solo side project of Daniel Brandon Allen, lead singer and guitarist of Fox Jaws. Using traditional recording techniques, Dan experiments with different instruments and sounds to make unique and atmospheric songs.
